Weekly Tuesday Classes

RSCDS Calgary Branch Basic Class – South

The Winter session runs from January 6th until May 12th.

This is a class for beginner dancers or those that want to improve their personal technique. It will focus on footwork and basic formations. Dancers from this class are invited to join in for the first half hour of the Cross and Thistle General Class which follows immediately after.

This class is free for those in their first year of dancing. After completing two beginner terms (e.g. Sept-Dec, Jan-May) the cost will be $5 per person per class.

Cross and Thistle General Class

The Winter session runs from January 6th until May 12th.

This class is open to dancers of all experience levels with difficulty increasing throughout the evening. Dancers from this class are invited to join the Basic Class at 8:00pm.

The cost is $8 per class.

Douglas Scottish Country Dance Club

The Winter session runs from January 13th until May 26th.

This class is open to dancers of all experience levels – beginners are welcome!

The cost is $2 per class.

Dancers from this class are invited to join in for the first dance of the Calgary Scottish Country Dance Society (St. Barnabas) General Class which follows immediately after.

This class is free for those in their first year of dancing. After completing two beginner terms (e.g. Sept-Dec, Jan-May) the cost will be $5 per person per class.

Calgary Scottish Country Dance Society (St. Barnabas)

The Winter session runs from January 8th until May 7th.

This class is open to dancers of all experience levels.

The cost is $8 per class with a CSCDS membership, and $10 for non-members. A CSCDS membership is $25 per year.

Cross and Thistle Technique Class

The class will resume in Spring 2026.

Tuesdays 8:00 – 10:00 pm

This class is for ALL dancers that want to improve their personal technique. It will include all aspects of good technique – teamwork, phrasing, footwork, formations, handing, and deportment, while only learning one or two dances per evening. Individual feedback will be given. Please wear comfortable clothing and dance shoes and bring a water bottle. Hand sanitizer will be provided.

The cost is $6 per night, or $48 for the semester (with 2 nights free).
